Swedish compound manufacturer Polykemi produces in the USA

Polykemi is a company specialized in the production of plastic compounds in TPO, ABS, ASA, PC/ABS, TPE, POM and other types of plastic materials which exports to many countries around the world. The American market has always been of great importance for the company which has, in fact, decided to open a production plant in North Carolina.

In fact, they are investing almost 10 million euros in the new factory in the United States , which is becoming the largest single investment in the history of the Group. The goal is to start the production of plastic compounds as early as the second quarter of 2022.

“We are really excited about this step which increases our presence and gives us many new opportunities on the American market,” says Johan Hugoson, CEO of Polykemi Inc.

The American company Polykemi Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish family company Polykemi AB and, since its founding in 2013, has worked to launch its own production of high-quality plastic compounds on the US market.

“We have delivered more than 10,000 tonnes to customers in the North American market via US distributors or direct deliveries from our main factory in Ystad.

However, our goal has always been to start our manufacturing in the United States, now we have reached that milestone.

The new facility is geographically close to our current customers , which gives us a direct presence and even stronger customer relationships,” says Hugoson.

Manufacturing facilities on three continents

The investment in the Gastonia plant outside Charlotte, North Carolina is the largest single investment in the company's history and enables optimal conditions for Polykemi Inc's further growth in North America.

The plant is approximately 5,000 m2. and is expandable up to 10,000 m2. and will initially be equipped with two production lines with production expected to start in the second quarter of 2022.

“With the new factory in the USA it means our production facilities are located on three continents, which also means we have more efficient logistics.

We can guarantee the same high quality in both virgin and recycled compounds, as well as the same color on all materials shipped from our factories. "Hugoson says.

An investment for the future

Polykemi Inc will produce the same material in the United States that the Group does in Europe and Asia. Additionally, shipments to American customers will come directly from the North Carolina factory, saving time, costs and less impact on the environment.

“This is an investment for the future that lays the foundation for the growth of the Polykemi Group with the aim of also becoming a major player in the American plastic composites market,” says Hugoson.
