rMIX: Il Portale del Riciclo nell'Economia Circolare - TOTAL acquires the Electric Charging Points of Blue Point London

The English company Blue Point London, which manages some of the electric vehicle charging points in London, has been acquired by TOTAL

Blue Point London has been sold to the French company TOTAL according to what Total itself declared in the group's latest information. Thus the diversification of the hydrocarbon extraction and transformation company in the field of renewable energy and sustainability continues.

Total has signed the acquisition of "Blue Point London" from the Bolloré Group. With this transaction, Total acquires the management and operation of Source London, the largest city-wide electric vehicle charging network, comprising more than 1,600 on-street charging points.

Launched in 2010, the current Source London network was developed in partnership with the London Boroughs and currently accounts for more than half of the charging points in operation in the capital.

Source London's growth prospects are supported by the City of London's ambition to be a zero carbon city by 2050, in particular with the aim of increasing the number of charging points tenfold within five years.

Total is also committed to powering this charging network with electricity guaranteed to be 100% from renewable sources, which will be supplied by its subsidiary Total Gas & Power Limited.

Already active in the installation and operation of networks of charging points in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region (Netherlands) and the Brussels-Capital Region (Belgium), this acquisition in the United Kingdom strengthens Total's position as a key player in electric mobility in Europe.

The Group thus continues its development in major European cities, in line with its ambition to operate more than 150,000 charging points for electric vehicles by 2025.

“By combining this existing infrastructure today with Total's know-how in installing, operating and managing public electric vehicle charging networks, we are starting a new phase, supporting the expansion of electric mobility in London.” said Alexis Vovk, President, Marketing & Services at Total.

“In collaboration with our partners and local authorities, we will be able to meet both the strong growth in demand for on-street charging points and the needs of London users for new mobility solutions.”

This transfer of business will have no impact on current users of the Source London service. This transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
