rMIX: Il Portale del Riciclo nell'Economia Circolare - Post Industrial Recycled PVC: where it comes from and what it is

What is the Recycled PVC and where does the waste come from?

PVC is a widely used plastic material, whose technical name is polyvinyl chloride, which arises as a rigid element to which it is necessary to mix plasticizers in order to work it.

To make it flexible and moldable, the most used plasticizers are esters and phthalic acid, through these compounds it is possible to extrude it and inject it into molds.

Non-harmful product in the form of a final product at room temperature, but it becomes dangerous if burned in unsuitable systems or in the air as it contains chlorine.

PVC is a product that can be easily recycled through the selection and grinding of waste.

In particular, a waste of pipes will be used to produce rigid PVC granules suitable for the production of pipes, while a waste from doors and windows will be used for the same production.

As regards Flexible PVC, waste mainly comes from the recovery and recycling of telephone and power cables, which are separated from copper and other materials.

The types of PVC granules depend on the mineral charge contained, the stabilizers, the color required and the final use.

In particular, granules are available for extrusion in the types of rigid or flexible PVC and for injection.

In the rMIX recycling portal you can find PVC granules, which are produced exclusively from recovered and treated post-industrial waste, taking care to reuse them based on the origin of the waste.
